Indescribable Gift!
2 Cor 9:15
15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
NIV
I think we have all heard the stories that came out of Black Friday this year as people positioned themselves to storm the stores in anticipation of all the great deals that would be available. Now the thought behind all these deals really is to buy gifts for those you love. I wonder what was going through the mind of the lady who pepper sprayed those who were in her way as she grabbed the x box and rushed out of the store. How many years of jail time do you think she’ll receive for that present?
There was a report that as some people were leaving a certain store criminals were waiting on them and they were shot and their presents stolen. Lord protect us from the craziness. I heard about a grandfather who was trying to get a gift for his grandchild and put the thing in his pants and the crowd beat him down to the ground. The police came and took him away. All in the name of getting and receiving gifts during Christmas. My friend Christmas, as the world sees it, has become something very ugly and to be honest with you it wears me out.
Who Started This Christmas Stuff?
A woman was out Christmas shopping with her two children. After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and everything else imaginable; and after hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they saw on those many shelves, she finally made it to the elevator with her two kids.
She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday season time of the year – overwhelming pressure to go to every party, every housewarming, taste all the holiday food and treats, getting that perfect gift for every single person on our shopping list, making sure we don’t forget anyone on our card list, and the pressure of making sure we respond to everyone who sent us a card.
Finally the elevator doors opened, and there was already a crowd in the elevator car. She pushed her way into the elevator car and dragged her two kids in with her and all the bags of stuff. When the doors closed, she couldn’t take it anymore and she stated, “Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up and shot.”
From the back of the elevator car, everyone heard a quiet, calm voice respond, “Don’t worry, we already crucified Him.”
For the rest of the trip down in the elevator, it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.
For the Christ follower, Christmas must have a different meaning!
Two Thousand years ago God gave the world an indescribable gift!
As we approach Christmas 2011 with all of its fear, despair, danger, political unrest, economic uncertainty and anger; it is important to remember this. God’s indescribable gift alone is stronger than the hate and despair that mockingly stands in opposition against “peace on earth good will to men.” This Christmas season as you are pulled in every direction with shopping, Christmas cards, parties, food, families, friends, and the pressure of getting it all right without hurting anyone’s feelings; remember “Immanuel,” God with us. Jesus and He alone is the reason for the season and He deserves all our praise and worship!
Oh Come Let Us Adore Him!
Oh Come Let Us Adore Him!
Oh Come Let Us Adore Him!
Christ The Lord!
